Global Game Jam

Life is a game
So we completed our game on time
I found that my Server has MORE then enough room to host the game so I posted it up

Hide N Haunt <-- Link to the Game, please play and review. Citchin Kru will be continuing with this game with plans to make it more complex, more enjoyable, and take it to portable games.
This game is a simple flash game that takes two players who trust each other enough to not peek. The premiss is a Hide and Seek game where player 1(Girl) hides somewhere in an old haunted mansion so player 2(Boy) can hunt her down before the time runs out or he runs into the ghost of US President Theodore Roosevelt, he was a man, with a plan, who dug a canal.

This game parameters were given Friday Jan 29 at 7pm and we had until 10pm to come up with a design. We could continue until later just not at FPA. We were not permitted to create any assets or start programming/scripting until Saturday Jan 30 at 9am. Citchin Kru, my team, started around 10 because we had to set up our food table and computers. The game was due today, Jan 31 at 3pm. We finished our game with all the assets at 11am and began play testing. The programmer, myself, and our sound guy worked on getting final adjustments and bugs out of the artwork and program as they popped up from other teammates and other teams playing the game.

We were the first to present. I introduced myself as did each of my team, then I spoke a little about the game and what our choices were and had a demonstration by my teammates then let others play for a few rounds.

The other teams went and the judges deliberated, and deliberated, and deliberated. almost an hour after we finished presentations they came back and awarded
Team 4 "Best use of non traditional controller" they made the game so it would be best played with a WaCom
Team3 "Best Arcade game" it was simple and fun to watch, and the 'boob mechanics' were REALLY funny
Team 2 "Best Art and Sound" BEAUTIFUL is the only word to describe it, they did a fantastic job with the game, sounded great, but needed more levels and more depth.
Team1 aka Citchin Crew "BEST GAME OF GGJ 2010" we had the best idea to market, most potential for multiplatforms, most original idea, and the judges said they had the most fun watching us demo and they wanted to play it the most.

So I have a trophy sitting in my room that I will take a picture of when I decide to wake up.
More about why we made the desisions the way we did. )

Global Game Jam

  • Jan. 31st, 2010 at 6:09 AM

I love these "Do the nearly impossable in a REALLY short time" contest/events.

Nanowrimo is awesome. I failed my first try this last November but it was a great effort. I need to finish it though...

I drew 3 24 hour comics... well closer to 2 3/4 comics in 3 years. Completed it the first and third time and failed in the middle.

So I am now the Producer in a team of 10 game students
My team consists of
7 - 2nd Year Flashpoint Students
2 - Fall 1st Year Flashpoint Students
1 - Spring 1st Year Flashpoint Student

The team is working VERY well together and have at the time of this post have been working on the assets and programing for 21 hours straite. We have 9 hours left before we MUST have the game complete and uploaded.
4 of the team have not slept. Funny that 3 of those 4 are all 1st Years.

Anyway I digress. Simeon is taking photos of the event and I hope to be Spamming things from now till we find out who made the best game at our location.

^_^ Almost done.
PS... My Audio person wants to strangle me >_<

Mass Effect and Global Game Jam

  • Jan. 28th, 2010 at 12:20 AM
Shuji t♥ Akira
Quick update...

Started playing Mass Effect (ME), well started it back in October, but actually put in time today, a good 6 hours >_< Lots of fun, I wanna play through it at least once before summer so I can get Mass Effect 2 and have fun with that one too using my character stats.... aparently you die in the first 1-3 hours of ME2 and get brought back to life.... O_o not much of a spoiler but I look forward it...

This weekend I am participating in Global Game Jam, I think that is the proper name for it.... basically my team, I am the producer/lead of the group, will make a game start to finish in about 36 hours.... >_< kinda like 24hr Comic Day or Nanowrimo, but for game developers ^_^ Wish me luck... sometime next week if it is a remotely decent game I will find somewhere to post it for people to play...

hell even if it is worthless I still probably will post it somewhere >_< lol

Oh well, I just gained Spectre status in ME so I think I'm gonna go to bed now so I can get to class tomorrow then more ME

Oh yeah just because... if anyone wants to add me to their Steam Friend list Im BlakniteLudlam

1
My car is in the shop ... Needs a new CV joint and a new set of lug nuts for my front drivers tire >_< I HATE not having my car... with luck I will be able to get it this weekend... WITH LUCK

2
My Milanoo purchase arrived... I ordered a loli dress, loli shoes, and a wig
over all great purchase BUT did NOT receive any notification of shipping
  • The dress is a little small... that or I REALLY put on weight since last time I measured... oh well, gotta loose 3 inches from my waist, and get a minimizing bra and it will fit perfectly. or maybe just a good corset tied REALL tight. I plan on loosing 20 pounds before my birthday, 3 down 17 to go WOO
  • The shoes are a little big... but I figured they would be... I wear size 6-7 depending on the shoe so I got 7s overall they fit well enough and I cans walk in them just fine. and I am lounging around the house in them ^_^ cause they are CUTE!!!! I will wear them tomorrow when I decide to go back to school
  • The wig is beautiful too comes down to my knees, I am glad I am a short person because if I was 6 inches taller then the ponytail would be too short. The ponytail is detachable, so I just gotta position it right when I wear it. And I gotta get myself the accessories needed to wear it without my own dark brown butt length hair sticking out in weird ways
Kudos - Dress was custom color so had to be made, wig was back ordered but was shipped out in less then 20 days from time of payment
BOO - Did not send shipping warning. I prefer to know when I need to be home to receive a package that I gots to sign for....

Lucien Amber

Unnamed Amber - Wow, you are remarkably SHORT for a vampire.
Lucien - Do you wanna die?
Unnamed Amber - I am a Dryad, vampires always say we taste like grass.
Lucien - ...

So on another note... I know several people on my Friends list have Elf Els... I am modding a sleeping El into an semi-open eyed elf and would LOVE to see some pictures of the ears at various angles, I wanna get his ears as close as I can to the originals.

Modding is fun >_<

This was emailed out by the CEO of my school a few days ago.... just got around to reading it today and I thought it was entertaining to think about.

The Children of Cyberspace: Old Fogies by Their 20s

By BRAD STONE

My 2-year-old daughter surprised me recently with two words: “Daddy’s book.” She was holding my Kindle electronic reader.

Here is a child only beginning to talk, revealing that the seeds of the next generation gap have already been planted. She has identified the Kindle as a substitute for words printed on physical pages. I own the device and am still not completely sold on the idea.

My daughter’s worldview and life will be shaped in very deliberate ways by technologies like the Kindle and the new magical high-tech gadgets coming out this year — Google’s Nexus One phone and Apple’s impending tablet among them. She’ll know nothing other than a world with digital books, Skype video chats with faraway relatives, and toddler-friendly video games on the iPhone. She’ll see the world a lot differently from her parents.

But these are also technology t

I asked Mom to purchase the 4 Juku Couture girls for Christmas because if she didn't I would when I got back to Chicago.

I didnt get them under the tree. I would have purchased them on Sunday except I had a blowout on Pete Cruiser so my poor little car sat overnight in Bloomington so Dad could get the tire replaced, I got a new set of tires in back.

I rode down on Amtrak Monday to pick the car up and got home at 1am so the first chance I had was today. I used the excuse, a very good legit excuse, to pick up a new mouse for Squiggles... the one I have been using died this morning between home and school

So I purchased these five cute little girls up while I was buying my mouse

Full Crew

Full crew

Their names are going to change from their defaults.

Poppy, Jun the one in the green skirt, is the only one with a definate name.
I look forward to finding out the rest of their names

Twins
The twins are a wonder, their faceups are different, ever so slightly though.
The one in white has less blush and eyeshadow but darker lips then the one in black.

one down one to go

Life is a game
So one semester ended almost 2 weeks ago... another will start in less then a week

I am focusing on what I need to in order to do my best, I feel I did not do my best this last semester and have let myself down, not to mention whatever expectations my instructors had of me

I am VERY tempted to purchase a Leeke L body for my floating heads to use... I'm gonna head home early on Sunday so I can double check resin colors and finalize the order. It is hard to pass up such a deal... If I do this I will have to layaway it and pay using a credit card

I will start also an automatic payment toward Mervyn, I need to pay that bobobie off FAST

I am working on reworking my Spoon model so she doesnt have doll joints and smooth her out, due to the requirements of the class I was limited in what I could do. I will stay with the restrictions and make a better model ^_^

I have settled on my next cosplay ... my last one I used for 5 conventions and it is time to retire it and make a new one. I am gonna cosplay as one of the alternate forms of Vocaloid's Hatsune Miku, Akita Neru she isn't the one I wanna do ultimately... but I'm too fat for most of the rest so I'll settle on Neru, she is cute and bitchy ^_^
First thing I'm gonna do is focus on losing 20 lbs, and getting me a Yellow Gold wig and styling it... Mom said she will assist in getting the rest made in March/April
my goal is Acen 2010

First I will introduce you to a member of my doll family. Since this event was very special to him as well as to me and the rest of the game students here.

Let me introduce you to my unfaced DIM Minimee Final Fantasy Advent Children Reno. I got him forever ago and he has existed in a box wrapped in paper with the rest of my floating heads waiting for the day I get money for a body.
